the theme: Gegenkrieg
the players: 4 storytellers and a lot of alter egos
christian (leo zahn)
lucas (sharon geist)
samuel ( ed nachtwächter)
theo (ali von winkelried) (and my many alter egos)
the deal: absurd warfare scenes in different platforms
after playing around with different ways of connecting different scenes and how to build a story
-interactive video wire wax
-storymap knightlab storymap
-thinglink thinlinkg on Facebook (check out the foto remark )
- trying to use thinglink to make photo views on Facebook a personalized experience
me and my teammates came up with the following communication concept:
instead of a linear one story representing us all, multiple story lines / stand alone information linked together to build a story web / different story perspectives linked together ( currently Facebook, youtube and the knight lab story map)
this would make the obvious problem and symptom of modern warfare and in particular information flow concerning warfare, into a quality cq solution. (asto raising the question about the effects and necessity, pro s and cons to established "journalism and publicist networks /information flow.
The same concept would apply for youtube our video based material
since a lot of our story is floating on youtube, i dd thought it be a nice story experience if you were to have a poetic random link, switching the reader/viewer from video to video, from set timeframe to set timeframe and let the story grab its viewers ( swallow it without chewing )
youtube test (find the annotations to go back and forth the story)

informieren. Wild saugend an seiner elektronischen Zigarette, welche
Schlimmer
noch, es ist Blut!
Kommissar Rudi wendet sich Franziska
zu.
„Franziska, wir brauchen eine 2.
Spurensicherungstruppe.“

Project alligator | gegenkrieg
project update
the original story, building a social creative network / different storytellers acting out eachother s ideas ran into a couple of problems.
first of all i felt the necessity of a common, maybe even more noble theme and purpose to my story / project, a clear story frame.
second problem: the participation of thirds and "spectators" was gaining value and adding to a stottering / stagnating storyline.
in cooperation with one of my team mates from the module (truth and poetry) Christian Fischer and i came up with the idea of a commen story frame in which the both of us could tell our individual take on things / different views and perspectives on a commen topic.
this is where project alligator turned into "gegenkrieg" or as this is my personal developement and process page; "Project alligator: Gegenkrieg" (gegenkrieg - counter war (don t mention the war)
the story would take place on two different planes:
first plane: the virtual ( different storytellers with each of them/us using different storys perspectives edited together or linked together to tell a non linear /poetic truth
second plane the analog ( actionist absurd scenes being acted out by people we meet / asked to participate with and ontop of this a urban action / game ( "capture the flag" - concept by Christian Fischer- https://www.facebook.com/groups/1487032131508520/ )
assets: a commen idea pool / action platform ( facebook link ) to exchange idea s and footage (still secret )
second step ( we need a showcase common platform - still work in progress )
interview summary to discribe my field of action and intent.
How i intend to reach my audience

Who am i :
i could be anybody and i would be telling the story from this perspective. a person or group spreading anonymous information about the absurd war, a citizen finding himself in a absurd war situation somebody from the streets getting involved and having to run for his life, somebody in a chicken suit dealing out orders, a guy with the infaltable alligator instead of a gun, somebody whos lying dead in the street in a absurd situration, Somebody documenting these strange experiences in this absurd war, an anonymous creditable (gegenkrieg platform) information source (BBC /any newsagency) portraying a story and whats going on in this absurd war.

Whats the story about;
Ist about this strange war that is going on which is completly
absurd. Nobody knows why its being fought, between whom the war is going on and
what it is about.
The story is about the absurdity of believing economical,
individual, political, generalsocial interests based persuations ( believing a political body who empowers a captain figure
for example, with authority whos orders are to be followed and that it is a war indeed.
The idea war and violence are a solution for war and violence in general about
belief, persuations and the absurdity of everything we (the individual and as such socieity) takes as a
basis for ist beliefs and actions and everything we take for granted and percieve as normal (what is ridiculous?)
set of criteria: (work in progress)
-a unclear narrative (things seem to happen out of no apparant reason)
-the protagonists give no indication of their motivation, and seem to be stuck in the storyworld forever
-there is no clear ending
-factions seem to shift dissolve and rebuild

Who s telling the story?
The story is being told by 3 or 4 storytellers. Each of us
has his/her own perspektive and story to tell, each of us could be anybody in this strange war / indivdual story s being told
My perspektive
Several ideas to that:
Like with other complex situations (the war in syria, the
egyptian revolution the fukushima catastrophe, the Crimean conflict) the "reader" is
confronted by the story from several sources (social media, news, journalists,
information on different platforms) leading to the awareness of a situation being taking place and a first reaction to this ( awe, fear, any opinion)
From this perspektive i thought it would be interesting to
use a random chaotic mix of Different perspectives. spreading
different points of view and different storyangles of information and situations to build up a story kosmos.
Who am i adressing
My audience is concient humanity / anybody involved in
social media
(to create awareness of the absurdity of thought and persuation: war)
By using a virtual platform : social media, youtube, a
collection ore link system through the different perspectives in the story,
video and photographic material telling a story. And by using the 4 storytellers to create a
multi perspektive non linear poetic/random storyline to create the idea of this
complex absurd situation / war. Simultaneously we intend to use people as we act out different scenes, and ask them
to participate and by doing so, hope to create a creative pool of material /statement against absurdity (absurd war)
Last but not least a urban common experience, organising a
game (catch the flag) to create footage of this absurd war, at the same time
create an audience and awereness about the absurdity of war.
Besides the participants and ausdience build up through social media the audience which comes along by building up a project / exhibition to tell our story in the field of HSLU project modules would be aware of this "gegenkrieg" aswell.

The place where the story takes place / and how the story
will be told
The story will be told digital and analog ( eventually as a closed story in lucern / europe, maybe as an ongoing event, making a global statement by acting out / gathering and sharing ideas on how the absurd war looks like, a creative statement against "war" and the absurdity of human interaction information kulture /systems leading to absurd actions: for example war)
Analogue: by participating in playing out absurd war szenes
and by a common urban „game“ experience ( creating room to discuss, building
connections a common experience)
Virtual: By editing and putting together the 4 storytellers
perspective which would be a group descision: using a stand alone promotional video,
a or different youtube chanels, a "thinglink" interactive picture/ picture s system, linked social media output, different information sources put together via information
gathering platforms (thinglink, storyfie etc)
maybe by making a single "end" video of the story or by posing as a news agency /platform displaying / putting together the different absurd war symtom scenes, or use interactive video to link up video material /video with photography and exhange different content to build story loops and a linked video
structure
The exact format will be decided by the different material
and on what the 4 storytellers intend to use to put together their story.
Maybe there will be an starting information ( a war scene /
singele schocking photograph / audio statement (cry for help)
a First dramatic sign of absurd war / Document of the absurd war ( the urban war game / catch the
flag) and to whom is interested, can click through or to the corresponding format /
plattform of each of the 4 storytellers together a mix which tells a comlex situation by its symptoms and by doing so leading
to a / the bigger picture so to say in differetn single/ multible storys /information sources

first week summary project alligator
This Blog serves as an open source process and development platform for Project Alligator.
Visting the 6 week HSLU project module "wahrheit & dichtung" (truth and Poetry) i and my fellow students were asked to bring an objekt along on the first day aswell as our first thoughts and ideas concerning how to visualise and make readable a single story or story experience across multible platforms and formats using digital technologies.
for this purpose i brought along an inflatable alligator and a "shark poncho"
after giving it some consideration i came to a first set of criteria and decided that coincidence, chaos and letting the story, an objekt for that matter and the events which naturaly unfold as time goes by, play an important role in the way and manner the story and the storyboard would unfold.
the criteria:
- nonlinear / poetic / random storytelling
- real life situations/ interaction
- interaction with others and the interaction af everybody with their object as the story
- the story of everybody involved as an document of creative momentum aswell as "the story"
which i am telling
- being part of the story myself / and as narrator of the story but not taking over complete
control of the storyboard (setting up a storyboard by example material to create a field or
action parameter for the participants
- aswell a document of the "groove" in luzern / sociological paterns to a specific time
- taking the asignment criteria as my own (find an objekt and tell a story)
- the poncho (my whish that the participants would have an identiy)
- the inflatable alligator (the object to get the story told)
- using different social media, and different media for telling the story (foto, film
, spoken&written word (everything is allowed)
- trying to pose as less obstacles as possible ( almost everything is allowed )
- the object would have to be passed on to somebody else (snowball effect)
- the object could be transformed duplicated and passed on to 2 others who would continue the
storytelling (as long it is an story - everything goes and the alligator could become anything)
- keep things simple and easy
first questions
- would the quality change the story / make it less readable? ( the difference between home made videos directly uploaded or carefully narrated material )
- should i and how can i include material form third partys ? how can i give this along as a criteria to the people participating
- what changes would a implemented narritve make / story
more questions
first experience and startup
after the first day i took my alligator and sharkponcho and let people react to it. my only rule: say yes to everything and take my objekt along. me and my aligator ended up in several "strange" situations and with a lot of videos and photographs documenting the different kinds of interaction.

link to trailer / scene
in an first attempt to document what happend to me and my alligator , i mixed together a video of everything that happend in the first 2 days and "live" mixed them with a soundtrack i came across whilst filming what some people were doing with my alligator i used a single media (film) to summerise the happenings.
- edited summery movie ( work in progress
As a next step i founded a facebook site called "Projekt Alligator" and hooked up some of my fellow human beings to take an alligator along with them and asked them to please document their activitys and storys
